History of Excellence

1986 Peach Bowl Victory

The 1986 Peach Bowl marked a defining breakthrough for Virginia Tech football, as the Hokies secured their first-ever bowl victory. Behind a dominant defensive performance, Tech defeated NC State 25-24 after Chris Kinzer's 40-yard game-winning field goal. The win elevated the program's national credibility and energized a growing fan base.

1995 NIT Championship

Virginia Tech men's basketball reached new heights by capturing the 1995 National Invitation Tournament title at Madison Square Garden. Led by standout guard Ace Custis, the Hokies defeated Marquette to claim the program's second NIT championship.

1999 VT Football Season

The 1999 Virginia Tech Hokies football season stands as one of the most iconic campaigns in college football history. Quarterback Michael Vick electrified the nation, leading the Hokies to an undefeated regular season and a berth in the national championship game. Virginia Tech's thrilling run captured the imagination of fans and brought unprecedented attention to Blacksburg.

2023 Women's Basketball Final Four

The 2023 NCAA Women's Final Four run by Virginia Tech women's basketball marked a historic milestone for the program. The Hokies captured the ACC Tournament title and advanced to their first-ever Final Four, showcasing the best season in program history. Star center Elizabeth Kitley anchored a dominant campaign that captivated Hokie Nation. The achievement solidified Tech as a national contender and inspired a new generation of fans.
